Get to know Andrew
Andrew might be small, but he’s tough. And he’s now a candidate for a donated kidney.
He’s a hardworking lawyer. A voracious reader. A kitchen master. A caring husband and dad. A good-natured son. An encouraging brother and friend. He’s funny. He’s our dog’s favorite person.
And if he felt better, he’d be all of those things and more.
Born in New York, he’s lived in Providence, Rhode Island for the past 17 years. He’s faced multiple health issues with strength and tenacity, and those who’ve been along for the ride know that he doesn’t want attention. He just wants to be healthy.
Since a hospital stay in July 2023, it’s been clear: his kidneys haven’t been functioning well. He started getting dialysis in August 2024, and he continues getting treatment three times a week.
Andrew’s also a candidate for kidney donation, which is the ultimate goal. He’s on the waitlist for a deceased kidney, but that could take years. A donated living kidney would be life-changing.
He’s now listed at two hospitals: Rhode Island Hospital’s Transplant Center in Providence and Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, which is part of the National Kidney Registry (NKR).
If you’re interested in becoming a donor but don’t live near Providence, visit Andrew’s NKR microsite and then start the donor screening process. You may be able to donate through one of the 100+ NKR member centers throughout the US.
